For us at Samaras Mining occupational health and safety is a top priority. For this reason, we have established a 360, multi-level H&S protocol we apply across all our projects to assess KPIs and to preserve operational quality and control.

First and foremost, our safety check involves having daily machine inspection forms which are filled out by machine operators before the start of their shift. During their shift, all operators are aware of each others’ location and keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary regarding the machine.

Furthermore, we perform planned maintenance for each machine according to the manufacturer’s guidelines which is an additional level of inspection. Our team of HSQE Officers perform monthly safety walks across all company’s quarries to audit operators and identify possible gaps in training as well as improvement points.

Finally, we execute an additional audit every 3 months without notice for all machines. This audit includes an analytical inspection of the machine’s horns, lights, service and parking brakes, tow pins and tires’ pressures.

Taking into account that our company establishes our own workshops on site, regular safety audits have been introduced to make sure all equipment is in a good state and certificates are up to date.

Our teams of mechanical engineers and technical specialists have all been thoroughly and repeatedly trained to follow the manufacturer’s safety procedures and their understanding has been validated through regular safety walks.
